Women in Film & Television International (WIFTI) is a global network of over 40 member Chapters worldwide with more than 10,000 members dedicated to advancing professional development and achievement for women working in all areas of film, video, digital and other screen-based media. WIFTI does not offer individual memberships. Anyone interested in joining a Chapter should contact their local women in film/television organization for an application.  Highlights from the Opal Awards! 

 Saturday, May 17, 2014 

The Saturday night Opal Awards were presented by the Women in Film & Media (WIFM) Pittsburgh Chapter and given to women who have contributed to the artistic and economic development of Pittsburgh’s motion picture industry and the community through their work and service or have succeeded in bringing film productions to Pittsburgh. Women in television were honored with the Patti Burns Award for Excellence honoring local Deb Acklin, CEO of WQED, Dawn Keezer, Executive Director, Pittsburgh Film Office and Eleanor Schano, Pittsburgh television pioneer with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Catherine Hardwicke, Director (13, Twilight) was honored with a Woman of Impact Award presented by Kimberly Skyrme, WIFTI Board Chair. In addition, three scholarships were presented to local women enrolled in colleges and universities with over $4,000 in funds for their education in a film or television curriculum.
