WIFTI STATEMENT ON THE EVENTS IN TBILISI, June 20
Women in Film & Television International’s members are established and renowned creatives and craftspeople, who make up a crucial part of international film and media community.
We would like to express our grave concern over the events that took place in Tbilisi, Georgia on June 20. We hope for prompt and transparent reaction from the responsible authorities to ensure peaceful and safe working environment for all members of the media.
In partnership with our newly established chapter Women in Film & Television Caucasus we continue to empower and support all members of the media, especially women, for the freedom of expression, and their rights to work with respect in their chosen profession.
Caucasus region is unique with its history and culture, and the country of Georgia plays an important role in the development of the region and offers beautifully diverse and rich untouched nature, subtropical coastal alpine mountains, deserts and beautiful forests.”
